Winifred to receive stimulus funding

WINIFRED — The town of Winifred will receive federal stimulus money to improve its wastewater collection system.

The funds are coming from the Montana Department of Environmental Quality. The funds will be used to replace and rehabilitate existing sewer mains, eliminating the excessive infiltration of groundwater into the sewer system.

Removing groundwater infiltration will improve the system's performance and efficiency. The work also will save on the cost of future system improvements.

The town will receive $559,400 in stimulus funds from the Water Pollution Control State Revolving Fund for the project, among other loans.
